CHAPTER 107

107

GREATNESS
One more man in India immolated himself on 22 March, 2009. 12 people have died in a similar way for the Tamils.
In the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), China opposed a discussion on the human rights problem of the Tamils in Sri Lanka. China alone requested the UNSC not to interfere in the internal affairs of Sri Lanka. China justified its stand saying that the military operation in Sri Lanka had no effect on international security and peace.
It is true that “sometimes it is better to leave things as they are”. However, when some countries gave military training to the Tamils, China did not describe that as an act of interference in the internal affairs of another country. In contrast, China has been shaking hands with all leaders associated with that training.
Further, the terrors in Sri Lanka are disturbing the mind of all right thinking people all over the world although Norway alone came out of its comforts and did its duty to find a solution.
Incidentally, the present writer has been sending the copies of the last few emails to many western countries mainly because the ball is in their court. As the copies were not sent to China, it opposed the motion. This conclusion is an imagination only. What the present writer knows is his work and the present developments.
Eight militant people and eight army personnel died in different clashes in the Jammu & Kashmir State during the last three days.
The Speaker of Parliament on 23 March, 2009 described the process of disqualification as a matter of arbitration. This is the answer to the charges leveled against him.
At the instance of the President of the USA, the Prime Minister of India agreed to a one-on-one meeting on 2 April, 2009 during his visit to London for the G-20 Summit.
The officials from the Embassy of Germany and Sweden on 25 March, 2009 called on a political leader in the Tamil Nadu State to know more about the problem of Tamils in Sri Lanka.
The Indian Cricket on 25 March, 2009 signed a Re.8200 crore Official Broadcast Partner Agreement till 2017. The proceeds must be kept under a competent authority appointed by the Government.
Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) on 26 March, 2009 rejected the demand of the Government to park 15 per cent of its corpus totaling around Re.1,82,000 crore in the Stock Market.
The veracity of the above report is not known to anyone. Assuming that the amount indicated is a correct one, the EPFO is in possession of Re. 12,00,000 crore (Re. twelve lakh crore)! In contrast, the Union budget for 2008-2009 was Re.7,50,000 crore!
In this connection, it must be noted that the EPFO and the Union Government are not separate entities. Yet, the EPFO has rejected the proposal of the Government. This shows that the President of India might have persuaded the Government not to invest the money in the stock market arbitrarily. Now, the President must take one more step so that the Government would disclose the method of utilization of the EPFO money.
The USA on 26 March, 2009 requested Sri Lanka to bring an end to the war and find a solution acceptable to all sections of the people. Sri Lanka ignored the demand. The USA chose not to react immediately.
The trial of a 66 year old man connected with the former “Khmer Rouge” rulers of Cambodia opened at a genocide tribunal on 30 March, 2009.
Mr. Alberto Fugimori, a former President of Peru, claimed innocence before a tribunal. The charge was that he killed 50 people in three different incidents.
In this connection, it must be noted that all rulers kill their opponents branding them as rebels or antisocial elements. So long as they enjoy the support of the media, the world accepts them as efficient leaders. When they fall from the grace of the media, they and their supporters face the charges of genocide.
A Congress party leader in India on 31 March, 2009 requested the President of Sri Lanka to declare cease-fire. The latter ignored it. The former left the matter there.
The US Secretary of State on 1 April, 2009 said that the international community had started planning for the post conflict period in Sri Lanka. There was no reaction from Sri Lanka for this.
Many considered the new stand of the USA as a clear signal to grant total freedom to the Tamils. However, Tamils, presumably because of their untold sufferings, believed that all half-hearted steps by other countries would perpetrate injustice only.
Above apprehension is an unfounded one. This conclusion is based on the fact that the moves of the USA and other western countries are upsetting all calculations of Sri Lanka.
The Prime Minister of India met the President of the USA at London after the G-20 Summit. The President, among other things, might have discussed the Sri Lankan terror.
The Prime Minister of India called on the Queen of England on 2 April, 2009. The Queen might have requested him to give FREEDOM not only to Indians but also to the Tamils.
An explosion killed a man in Assam State.
Some Malayalam TV channels disclosed that India paid Re.900 crore in 2008 as commission for buying missiles worth Re.10,000 crore from Israel. The other TV channels and newspapers did not report this with any seriousness. The Government has not rejected the report.
Eight people died in four separate explosions in the Assam State on 6 April, 2009.
Some Tamil newspapers in India on 7 April, 2009 said that 520 Tamils including many civilians died in an attack using chemical weapons. The papers said that the chemical weapons had been supplied to Sri Lanka by India. Sri Lanka denied the use of chemical weapons. However, the photograph of the dead bodies – all without any bullet wounds- supported the claim of the Tamil newspapers.
Her Excellency the President of India sent a reply to a letter on 18 March, 2009. The letter is given below.

In this connection, it must be stated that it is the first letter received from the President of India for 105 letters or petitions. This may be a small step for the President of India. But, it is a giant step for 1000 million people. This might put the President at odds with the convention. However, the reply shows that the President is transmitting the petitions not only to the Prime Minister of India but also to various ministries, investigation offices and the Supreme Court. Thus, even the Chief Justice of India would be constrained to give a reply to the questions pertaining to the administration of justice in India. This shows that the office of the President of India is not the end of the career of a person. The obvious inference is that the President might give FREEDOM to Indians.
The USA and France on 9 April, 2009 requested Sri Lanka and the Tamils to stop war –like activities. Canada also followed suit. Sri Lanka, as usual, ignored it.
The Union Government on 9 April, 2009 decided to hand over 70 oil fields - before the general election - to private parties through an auction.
The act of apportioning the natural resources of the country among less than ten individuals is an unconstitutional one. Further, the Government shall not do anything to add to the militancy in India. This would undermine the UNITY of India. The violence taking place in India proves this. The Supreme Court would agree with this.
Further, there is no dearth of funds. The money in the Provident Fund and Pension Fund remains unutilized.
In the meantime, an Information Technology Company in India decided to dismiss over 2000 employees attributing inefficiency. This company recruited the boys after conducting rigorous tests. Now it wants to dismiss them. One reason is their family background. In order to dismiss one or two, it is dismissing over 2000! No escape. The Company is not bound by anything. Such a situation does not exist in any other country.
The militant people killed two police officers in Assam State on 11 April, 2009.
On the same day, the militant people killed 10 police personnel in the Jharkhand State. The encounter occurred just hours before a Congress party leader addressed a meeting. One or two newspapers reported the incidents in remote corners. The political leaders did not condemn the killings.
In this connection, it must be noted that the Government is not disclosing the reason why Indians kill Indians. The reason why they target the top leaders is also not known to the people.
Four people, including two police personnel, died in a land mine explosion in the Chhattisgarh State on 12 April, 2009. Police gunned down six militant people in two other encounters in the same State on the same day.
40 people, including 10 army personnel, died in a gun battle in the Chhattisgarh State on 13 April, 2009.
10 army personnel and four militant people died in another gun battle near a bauxite mine in the Orissa State on 13 April, 2009.
The President of India on 14 April, 2009 presented civil awards to 63 personalities. A representative of a manipulator took for himself one award. None in India questioned the correctness or otherwise of this.
Sri Lanka killed 18000 rebels in the last few weeks. Sri Lanka proudly said this on 14 April, 2009. This is worse than dropping an atom bomb on the Tamils. The mass graves of children, women and families would require a tribunal. This would happen only if the world countries were ready to withdraw their support to Sri Lanka.
The Government sold Satyam Company to another Indian Company on 16 April, 2009. The sale is patently unconstitutional.
The militant people killed 19 police personnel and polling officers, in the first phase of polling on 16 April, 2009 in four States. None in India condemned it. It went down as a routine incident. Why do Indians wage a war against Indians? Is it because of the denial of FREEDOM in India? Or is it because of the perception that the Government functions as an agent to transmit the natural resources to private parties perennially? It is the duty of the President to give answers to these unanswered questions.
England and France again asked Sri Lanka to stop the war. They, apparently, do not want to perpetrate injustice any more.
Presumably at the instance of the many western countries, India talked to the representatives of the Tamils and the Sri Lankan Government on 16 April, 2009 at New Delhi. This shows that Sri Lanka is not a sovereign nation. The moment the world wants, the Tamils would get freedom.
In this connection, when the present writer wanted India to save the Indian fishermen, two Indian officials went to Sri Lanka and, apparently, directed it to destroy the Tamils at the earliest. None denied this. They are destined to suffer and die like this for reasons not known to them. This has no precedent.
A political leader in India on 18 April, 2009 said that her party would work for a free Tamil Nation in Sri Lanka.
The UN Secretary General, Mr. Ban Kimoon, sent the chief of staff of the UN, Mr. Vijay Nambiar, to Sri Lanka to assess the situation. Mr. Nambiar on 18 April, 2009 wanted Sri Lanka to stop the war. However, Sri Lanka expressed its helplessness saying that issue was in the hands of its field commanders.
The world could have prevented the perpetuation of injustice in Sri Lanka in several ways. If nothing worked, the world countries could have established diplomatic relationship with the Tamils after granting independence. Now, the only license in the hands of Sri Lankan leaders is that the Tamils belong to their country.
The Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, has not given a reply to the letter dated 18-3- 2009 of the President of India.
A man may be so great that no achievement would be an addition to his greatness. Even then he must do his duty. This is what the sages say.
The facts from 21 March, 2009 to 18 April, 2009 are being submitted to Her Excellency the President of India through email on 19 April, 2009.
